Summary: After getting settled down in Metropolis, Kara gets a curious letter from a photographer who is interested in doing several photoshoots with her.
Feedback: That'd be so sweet of you, no matter how good or bad the story was.
Chapter 1
Kara dropped off her stuff at the apartment that Clark had gottten for her. Now that the dark presence had made itself known, she would make it her life's mission to prevent it from possessing Kal-El's body, or else the whole world would be truly doomed. And that was a fate for Earth that she did not want.
She loves it here, even if she had been on her journey for so long to find any trace of her mother Alura or any of the other people of Krypton.
It was just like she had said to Kal-El when they had crossed paths again: they were the last of the House of El, the last of the whole civilization from the planet Krypton.
A pang had stabbed at her heart when she had answered Lois's question earlier in the day. There had been someone she had loved, but that had been back on Krypton. He had never known about the powers that their kind would have had if he had made it to Earth. She pulled out her locket and opened it. There was a picture from the two of them in happier times on Krypton, during peace. Everything had gone to hell during the War with Zod. A tear slipped out as she gently put her lips against the small framed picture.
She had never felt that love for anyone else. Well... there had been Jimmy Olsen, but she had heard about his death at the hands of Doomsday when she had caught up to speed with everything that had happened in Kal-El's life since she had left to find Kandor.
And now, 3 months ago, Kal-El had used the Book of Rao, unknowingly making a rip in the fabric of the world and unleashed this dark presence onto the world.
She dried her tears and slid out of her disguise. She took off the wig and removed the glasses she had been wearing. Funny that she had to bump into Kal-El of all the possible Daily Planet employees to bump into. Kara smiled softly at that.
Since she had just moved in, she expected no mail yet. But there was an envelope on the floor.
Kara raised her brow and bent to pick to up from the floor.
That's strange, who could it be from? Could it be from this Oliver Queen/Green Arrow Kal-El and Lois told me about who just went public? Or could it be from Lois? Or Kal-El?
Kara looked at the front of the envelope and found out that it was addressed to her apartment. Who else knew about her moving in?
She tore the envelope open and read the piece of paper.
Dear Kara,
Interesting photoshoot that you did on the rooftop with the American flag.
In fact, I have been so impressed with you that I would love to photograph you for this monthly article for my magazine.
There will be 5 photoshoots in total.
I really hope you will say yes, for I don't believe that the Blur and the other heroes are bad people. They are the protectors of the world, be it to protect the world from a bank robbery or a hostage situation or a strange possession like that Glorious Godfrey character.
Yours sincerely,
Rad Scooper.
PS: here's my number if you would like to accept or decline my offer. Either way, it would be a pleasure to work with you. You really are a Supergirl.
Kara looked at the number and contemplated calling him or not, for she had just purchased an iPhone 4 along with Kal-El's help.
Her fingers flew over the buttons, holding the phone to her ear while she heard it ring.
"Good evening, Rad Scooper speaking?
"Mr. Scooper, it's... Kara."
"Oh hey, Supergirl." Rad said smiling on the end of the line. "Please, call me Rad."
"Rad, Rad." Kara responded, then blushed. "Erm, I mean, okay Rad."
He chuckled.
"Not the first time I have been called that." Rad replied.
"But I'd hate to take up more of your time, Kara, I know it has been quite a day for you. Saving all these people at Godfrey's protest rally against the heroes and the Blur and all..." he stopped talking then, "I understand if you don't want to stay in the spotlight."
"Yeah, about that. I'll do it."
Rad was surprised. "You will?"
"Yes, where are we going to shoot tomorrow, Rad?"
"Wow, that's... unbelieveably rad, Kara!"
Kara chuckled.
He told her the location where she was supposed to meet.
"How about we start somewhere in the afternoon? Like maybe at one o' clock?" Rad asked.
"Sounds good. I will see you then. Goodnight Rad."
"Goodnight Kara."
They got ready for bed at the same time, both already thinking how awesome their photoshoots would go.
