Title: A Destined Romance (Season Six Flash-Sideways)
Rating: PG13 (NC17 because of language)
Summary: Jan Sanders finds his true love... but it's not Shannon. (and additional information on how The Destined Romance would have continued on the Island. Well, not so destined.)
Spoilers: that'd be the Series Finale *Sobs* The End.

Jan Sanders could not believe that he would start another branch of his Massage Salon right here in America. What had started in Sydney, had continued in America... with a slight difference. He was now also giving massages to men. Today would be his first time actually giving a massage to a man. He'd never done one before and was very nervous, because he didn't know the male body that well. Of course he was a true womanizer with all his female clients so he knew each and every aspect of the female body to massage and give pleasure to.

Bodies of men were not his expertise. Where would their pleasures lie on their bodies? Would they want a cock massage for example?

Thank God for landing safely. When he had felt the slight turbulence he had slightly begun to panic but it wasn't enough to fully go into hysteria mode. He saw everything happen in front of him, the handcuffed woman stealing a pen from the doctor, an addict who thankfully didn't die but told that same doctor that he should have let him die and more things like that. He didn't see Boone sitting there, but Boone clearly saw him. They were still just strangers to each other, unlike their other personas back on the Island.

(When Boone had died on the Island, Jan felt like he had lost a friend. He'd briefly gotten together with Shannon and then he had been forced to watch as she developed feelings for the Iraqi torture machine known as Sayid Jarrah. He'd been the receiving end of Sayid's fists quite a few times. When Shannon is accidentally shot and thus killed by Ana-Lucia, an animal is released inside of him as he sees the one he loves, the one who had been so selfish at their first encounter that day on the beach after the plane crash die right in front of him and he unleashes his rage on Ana-Lucia, but she is too strong for him and knocks him out. When he gets to know Ana-Lucia a little bit better (but not sexually) he steals her gun one time when she is not looking and shoots himself repeatedly, because he can't bare to be without Shannon)

Jan Sanders is standing in his massage salon and receives his appointed customer, which is... Boone.

"Don't I know you from somewhere?" Boone asked him as he stripped off his clothes to lie down on the platform in front of him. He lies down on his stomach while Jan prepares the stuff he needs to give his massage.

"I don't know. Should I?" he replied as he is about to put his hands on Boone's shoulders to start the massage.

"Oceanic Flight 815. Yeah, I saw you there sitting in row 25B." Boone said to Jan.

"Oh, I had no idea. Sorry, I must have missed you. What a coincidence." the owner of Jan's Massage Experience says as he does put his hands on Boone's shoulders... and flashes appear before his eyes.

Some girl in a red bikini sitting on a beach when there is pandemonium, death, casualties everywhere.

Boone saw this man walking towards him, and instantly approached him. He wasn't blind- he had seen this guy with his hands all over his sister. "What were you doing over there, giving her a massage when all these people need help?" he demanded angrily. "An just why did you have your hands all over my sister in the first place?" he could not help but ask.

"Jan, right?" said Boone, extending his hand. Then Boone looked over at Shannon and shook his head. "You seem like a nice enough guy, so I may as well be straight with you- Shannon is only interested in Shannon. Always has been, always will be. If you expect any
more from her, you'll be very disappointed." He paused a moment, looking at his sister selfishly lying there on the beach only a few feet from the tail section of the plane where so many people had died. "Don't get me wrong, I love her, Jan. She's my sister, and I'll always love her. But I don't delude myself, either. I know who she is, and she's definitely not the type to help anyone unless she gets something out of it." He turned back to Jan, and smiled. "Come on, man, let's go see if anyone else needs any help."

Jan pulls back and takes his hands off Boone and throws him his clothes. "Get dressed."

"What? What did I do?"

"GET OUT NOW!!!" Jan yells at him.

"Dude, what about my massage?"

"Go to another massage salon then!"

~~~~~~~~
He is still shaken to his core as his phone rings.
"Jan's Massage Salon, how may I take your massage?"
"YOU DOUCHE!! What the hell did I just hear, Mr Sanders?"
He cringes. It's his boss... Hugo Reyes. The one who suggested he take on male clients for his massage salon.
"I can't do it, boss. I'm sorry, I just can't imagine my hands all over a male body."
"DUDE!! You are a nice enough guy, don't make me fire your ass!"
Jan sighed. "It won't happen again, Mr. Reyes."
"It better not, Mr. Sanders or you will be out of a job for real."
Hugo Reyes ends the phone call as he sits in his office and shakes his head. "What a douche, having anxiety issues massaging male bodies."
*~*~*~*~*~
He doesn't know why, but he is attending the concert. He sees the same woman who stole the doctor's pen standing there talking with the doctor at the end of the concert. He sees this woman named Shannon, and this Iraqi named Sayid Jarrah. The name doesn't ring a bell, any kind of bell, not even the strange memory of his fists against his face while they fight about Shannon back on the Island.
He wants to go and bumps into the same man from before. From his massage salon.
"Boone." Jan says with a nod and walks away.
But he won't take just a "Boone" for granted, he wants him to know. You see, Boone has been visited by Desmond too and he too has seen the flashes.
He grabs one of Jan's hands and squeezes hard.
Jan nodded at Shannon, apparently seeing her change in behaviour... *It's not like we're that far away from eachother, so I don't have to say, I'll see you later.* Jan thought. He put his hand on Shannon and gave her a quiet hug, before he entered the tarp just as slowly as Shannon had done. "How... are you holding up?" Jan asked as he saw Boone laying there.
Boone looked up at him, and smiled. "Jan, thank you," he said quickly, as he saw his new friend enter his 'room'. He motioned for Jan to come closer, and looked at him seriously. "Jan, I need something from you- a favor," he whispered, looking at Jan with a look that betrayed how serious this really was.
Jan nodded and got closer to his friend. He sat down on his knees and regarded his wounded comrade. "Anything, Boone." He knew how serious that was from the look he was giving Jan Sanders. Immediately Jan had had a thought about what he needed from Jan... it probably had something to do about his sister. But what?
"Jan, I need you to look after her," Boone said, nodding towards the outside of the tarp. "I know she seems tough, even insensitive, but she needs to be cared for. I try, always, to take care of her, but now..." his voice trailed off as he looked down. "This is serious, Jan, my injury. I asked Jack not to be completely honest with her. The truth is, it's going to be a long time before the bone sets and I'm even close to recovering." He paused taking a breath, feeling fatigue slowly setting in. "I need you to look after her, I know it's a lot to ask, but please Jan," he said, looking at his new friend. "I trust you."
"I am NOT going to lose a friend I met on a recently crashed plane!" Jan said, a little too loudly. He had thought that Jack had worked his medical mojo to get Boone better again, patched up. Boy, was he dead wrong! "I will look after her, Boone, but you gotta promise me. . . that you're not going to succumb to death. Promise me and I'll do what you ask of me."
Jan reached out and gripped his friend's hand softly. "I promise you." Jan said as his hand left their entwined hands. He slowly got up and looked at his friend for one last time. "I won't tell Shannon any of this."
"Thank you," said Boone, as Jack came back in. "Jan, we need to let him rest now," he whispered, not wanting to break it up, but only looking out for his patient. Boone forced a smile. "I'm ok, Jan, I promise. Thank you," he said, letting his friend's hand go.
Jan looked and listened to Jack, keeping himself in check not to glare at the Captain Doctor Jack of the Island. "I'm already going. Good luck, my friend." Jan said as he left the tarp as slowly as he had entered. *You just gotta fight it! For me, for Shannon... for yourself, Boone* Jan thought as he met Shannon again.
All the while tears fall out of his eyes as he remembers. The death of his friend that he remembers on the Island, Shannon getting shot. And finally, robbing himself of his life to be with Shannon and Boone in the afterlife.
Jan wrapped his arms around Boone and kisses him hard on his lips. Boone responds with an equal kiss just as passionate.
"You remember now." he whispered as he pushed Jan against the back of a building and continued to make out with his friend he had found again. This was their happy end. Shannon Rutherford with Sayid Jarrah and Boone Carlyle with Jan Sanders.
"I can't believe I have forgotten about you." Jan sobbed against him in the throes of their climax.
