Chapter 7 : The Valentine's Party
The step had finally been taken. Jan Brown had left his apartment in Detroit and was now in the apartment of the Talon, in Smallville. He smiled, remembering the trip from Detroit to Smallville. Lots of bickering between Clark and Lois, who kept calling Clark 'Smallville'. Apparently it had been a habit ever since they had met eachother. Jan didn't have a lot of words with Lois Lane, who turned out to be Chloe Sullivan's cousin. They also didn't seem to tell the truth to Lois when it came to Lois demanding an explanation why Chloe was in Detroit... just that they had finally found Kara who had fully regained her memory. Kara... just the thought of his girlfriend made him smile.
He looked down at the bed where she was now sleeping. The trip back had exhausted her, probably the fight with the evil version of her cousin had been too hard for her. Since they had arrived in Smallville, Kara had showed Jan his apartment and had asked if she could sleep over. Of course her boyfriend would like that! He didn't know a single soul in this place, except for the people he had met the day before.
Jan smiled again, looking down upon her sleeping face. He had been so lucky to meet her, albeit that Kara had lost her memory then. Kara said, sitting upright in bed. "C'mon, we should get ready. First we'll take a shower and then we can get dressed for the party." Which is just what they did... while downstairs, things were getting set up for the party... which also included a large bowl of punch. The man that towered over it grinned. There was a new product on the market called "Red Kola" and he just needed to run a little test. . . what better way to do that for tonight's party? Chloe smiled. "What was that?" Chloe asked. She had managed to hear bits and pieces, the most important ones. "Uhm... would you like to go to the Valentine's Party with me tonight?" Chloe laughed. "Yes, Clark! I would love to! Though we should probably take Lois along, you know how she loves those parties!" Chloe said. She should have seen how long it took for Clark's smile to drop. "Yeah, I'm sure she will find someone there." Clark replied. "Isn't she working at the Talon right now?" Clark asked Chloe. "Yeah, I totally forgot!" Chloe said. She smiled. "Let me just hand in an article real quick to my editor and I'll come right over! Bye, Clark! And, I love you!" Anyway, I quickly got to finish up this article and then I can go get ready for the party!" Chloe said in a rush, already typing up the last remaining bits for her article.
But Amber had lost Chloe at the mention of a Jan. Jan BROWN?! She thought. She hadn't spoken to Jan Brown in years! With a smile they handed in their articles to their too bossy editor... who for a change was happy.

"Can I get you all anything to drink? Maybe a small glass of punch?" Jan asked. "No, that's quite alright, Jan. We'll get something from the bar." Oh well, and with that Jan went to the table where the punch and lots of glasses stood, accompanied by Kara. She got the glasses as Jan scooped up some punch for each glass.
