Sunshine Challenge Day 4: Fanwork Recommendations

 Okay, we've reached *that* part. 

First off I have to say, I am not good at starting a series and actually finishing it. 

Sometimes (well most of the time) I start writing a series and then I hardly ever finish it, because either time goes by and I run out of ideas, or just time goes by, I never have a middle point and ending in mind, just take it where it goes, OR... something really bad happens, like #MeToo.

I had two series called I Make The Good Girls Go Bad (actually inspired by the song of Cobra Starship featuring Leighton Meester) and I Drive The Guys Wild. 

But then THAT happens: #MeToo becomes known all around the world. 

And in those stories there is a character who by one touch, causes the women and the men to get aroused and have sex. In a way that feels very #MeToo-ish and that's why I haven't continued those fics. I always had the idea to make I Make The Good Girls Go Bad to be 100 chapters but since that happened I just haven't ever thought of continuing that one. 

Anywhoo, on to the ones I do want to talk about. 

Glow In The Dark : a story about a fan buying a *special* poster of his favorite celebrity actress but really has no idea what kind of events that will set off. This is one of those series I actually started and finished. 

Another one I actually started and finished is called A Goddess And Her Follower ... but wait, the way it is written is weird, it starts at the end, then comes the birth where the Goddess meets baby Follower for the first time/is appointed watching over him and the other two are just moments where the Goddess had to appear to him. 

So that's enough about mine, even though there are others I would like to talk about, but decide not to and suggest fanworks made by others. 

First off, my girlfriend Helen tellshannon815's Once Upon A Time/Once Upon A Time In Wonderland's crossover fic called Defying Gravity . I think it started when I talked to her about what if the lamp with Jafar from OUATIW ended up in Storybrooke in OUAT? And that got her thnking about writing a story about it. 

Then we have another friend's fanwork. Leanne phoenixnz's SUPERMAN AND THE ILLUMINATI. This fanfic is totally mindblowing. I absolutely loved it so much.

Are your series original works? It can be so tough to find readers sometimes. What was the inspiration for the Goddess and her Follower? Can you tell us more about the main character(s) here?

My series are original works, yes.

Inspiration for A Goddess And Her Follower was the thought of having a guardian angel watching over you your whole life. Also the 3rd and 4th story (well actually only the 4th story, the 3rd story one there was only one thing that happened to me but that First Rejection as it was called didn't really happen in my personal life) in that Universe inspiration came from my personal life where I dealt with rejection a lot. For Glow In The Dark, it was just one promotional image of the show V where Laura Vandervoort had a role and when I saw that promotional image I was like 'that would make an amazing Glow In The Dark poster and what if it was a special kind of poster?'

It takes a lot of creativity to build a new world and create a running story. Sadly I think AO3 doesn't host original fic, is that true? I know it would be a lot easier to find readers on a large site like that.

I'm not sure if AO3 hosts that. Although I have posted on AO3 sometimes, especially with the MMOM events.

Recently put up a Forbidden Love fic or two (the first one I had and then a reboot)

Basically, it was about a young male Vampire Slayer and young female Vampire who live right next door and they have a sort of Romeo and Juliette love story until they hear about the family business and how they cannot be together. I mixed it up with throwing in The Originals and some other characters and then it sort of stranded there although I have recently gotten more ideas on how to continue it.

The reboot was about years having passed between those two characters and there's this renewal of a Vampire/Werewolf Treaty for another 5 years. Klaus from The Originals is the Vampire King and Scott McCall from Teen Wolf is the Werewolf Alpha. This whole bunch of characters from the original Forbidden Love sort of reunites at a pub and there the Male Vampire Slayer goes on patrol and runs into the Werewolf's Daughter who decided to go for a run through the forest. Also, this series wasn't continued for a while but lately I have been thinking more and more about the continuation. The previous couple in Forbidden Love also hasn't had their reunion yet (well, not romantic reunion just crossing paths again) so I'm still hoping to write that one day.

Another original story would be Angelic Hellfire where a Daughter of God battles a Son of the Devil, and for each victory, one is rewarded with a prize while the other one is getting a wing plucked until that person has lost three times and is cast out of Heaven or Hell and become mortal. Instead of taking a normal shower there is a lava bath or lava shower. That went on for a few chapters but also never really reached the endgame goal.

Technically AO3 doesn't but there are caveats where there are grey areas due to tropes etc. So fairytales, myths, folklore, historical rpf, etc.
I've also included fics that are original works written for the allbingo "meet ugly" challenge because the meet ugly and comm are crossing into fandom territory and some of the fics in that series were fanfic.
People do break the rules and post wholly original works but that's easily avoided and a drop in the ocean compared to some of the spam and "give me prompts" and other not-transformative works I've seen lately!
Wordpress is one I use for original fic and I know people use Wattpad but I can't with the latter!
