To Fall In Love Again
Jun. 1st, 2011 11:37 pmTitle: To Love Again
Rating: pg-13
Summary: He's long-time single after breaking up with his girlfriend who he loved very much but the ex thought they were just words... and she? Well... either single or in a relationship.
Note: Yes, the lyrics are from Jessica Simpson.
He's sitting in front of his computer while at work, waiting for her to come online again.
That one day she had suddenly sent him that IM was the day his life completely changed... Goddess, it could have been just yesterday.
No longer was he the guy whose ex broke up with him in that long-distance relationship who accused him of his feelings just being words.
No longer was he unhappy.
Said woman finally came online just when a customer came in. He clicked on her username to open the window and typed in "Hello" followed by her name.
He got up to help the customer.
When he took his seat behind the computer again, his eyes take in the screen.
Said woman has logged out.
Bummer, he thought as he wondered what to do now.
But as he does so, his chat messenger gives the message that she has logged back in.
"How is this week going so far for you?" the guy typed.
Silence.
Not one message in italics that she is typing a message.
When he hit enter and the message is in the chat window, there's another message of her having logged out.
He gets worried, but he knows she is busy. For she is a famous actress.
One who has been on a show for 10 years and only ever having been in 1 full season and here and there in a few episodes.
He loves her so much and that one day she'd totally brightened up his day which he had told her.
But it's always been like this since that day when nothing bad had been amiss on that first ever day that she had chatted with him... a dance between at seeing her come online and then go offline seconds after.
Over and over again.
He'd never told her that she had saved him... almost like her character on that show saving someone else in that season opener.
He sees her log back in.
"Are you okay? Please talk to me." he typed in and immediately hit the enter button before she has a chance to log out again... and not 30 seconds later, she's offline again.
The door of the store is wide open as he cranks up the volume of his radio, the song playing.
As the song plays, he gives in to his emotions, lets them take free reign.
He doesn't start screaming nor does he start to yell, the tears just flow.
So faithfully
Holding tight to every dream I thought our love would ever be
As the scent of hope slips through my fingers
Plain for me to see
I can feel now in your eyes the changing way you look at me
Where's the love we knew would last us eternally
Will your arms still hold me
And your eyes console me, baby
Please don't turn your back and just pretend
That your heart still needs me
And your soul completes me
Can we find a way to fall in love again
It's hard for you
When your heart is opened up to feelings that you never knew
Never thinking that you'd doubt our love you don't know what to do
I'd give anything, my heart, my soul if I could pull you through
Just to find again my love we hold so true
And will your arms still hold me
And your eyes console me, baby
Please don't turn your back and just pretend
That your heart still needs me
And your soul completes me
Can we find a way to fall in love again
And as every night goes by
With every lonely tear I cry
It's so clear to me
I need you by my side
And will your arms still hold me
And your eyes console me, baby
Please don't turn your back and just pretend
That your heart still needs me
And your soul completes me
Can we find a way to fall in love again
Can we find a way to fall in love again
Oh baby, I need you to love me for the rest of my life
If we fall in love again
Would you love me for the rest of my life...
And that's when the store is 'ignored' again, people walk by, not even glancing inside the store, no, they just leave him there in his pool of tears.
His fingers clasp the mouse as the cursor moves to the chat messenger... having gone through the same online/offline dance a couple of times more. He thought it had been 5 more times.
One click and he's offline himself.
Why? Can't you see how much I enjoy talking to you? How much I love you?
He got up from his seat and walked up to the cash register after closing the double doors of the store.
As he glanced at the total amount for the day, he sighed.
"Another day full of crap with only greeting cards." he said softly as he put the money in a small plastic bag to put on the store's bank account.
He turned off the lights after he put his laptop back in the laptop bag and closed up his store.
As he's walking home, there's one thought, one mantra in his head.
Maybe I should have jumped from the balcony that day...
