Summary: Instead of  Sara Pezzini giving birth to Hope like in the comics, she gives birth to a boy. Years later, Jan, after his mother's death, an NYPD Detective himself, is determined to find his mother's killer... and also find love with the woman that appears in his dreams.

Note: I know it's been a very looooooooong time, but I have gotten inspired to continue this.

 

They were standing in front of an apartment, Jan Pezzini and his 'father' Patrick Gleason.

Patrick looked at Jan. "Sleep well, Son?"

"Yeah," Jan said, when he wanted to snap that answer back to him. "Why you ask?"

He shrugged. "Just wondering. Can't a father worry about their son having slept well?"

It was Jan's turn to shrug. "Sure, I guess."

They were waiting for someone to join them.

"Shit!" Dani cursed as her cellphone rings, getting out of bed and putting her clothes on. Too late now to take a shower.

She flips open her phone after seeing it is Patrick.

"I am so incredibly sorry, Patrick! I will be there in a few."

Patrick turns to Jan and raises his eyebrow. "You're never late. What happened?" he asks her.

"Nightmare." Dani quickly says, when in fact it had been anything BUT a bad dream.

"Sara?" Patrick asks.

"Yeah," Dani lies. "I promise I will be there as soon as possible."

"But Dani, you don't even know the address!" Patrick says as he tells her.

"Right, I will be there! Bye!" Dani says as she ends the call and hurriedly fixes her hair, then runs toward her car to drive toward the address.

"There she is. Finally." Jan says as he sees Dani park her car and hurry toward them.

Dani halts as she sees him there. Dear God, he's here too? Oh right, he's an NYPD Detective... just like you were, Sara. she thought as she continued to walk over to the house where they are.

The door is finally opened by the coroner.

"Everyone present?" he asks.

"Yes," they all say.

They enter the house and follow the coroner up the stairs... where they see a man totally naked in a bed filled with blood.

"I hope everyone will keep their stomachs in check." the coroner says.

"What are you talking about? I didn't even have breakfast yet!' Jan and Dani both say, then turn their faces to look at one another and then quickly away.

"Man, that sucks." the coroner says.

Then Dani reacts with her hand flying to her mouth. "Oh My God, that's Brandon Pratt!"

Jan and Patrick look at her quizzically. How does she know that?

"I had a dream last night. You were in it too, Jan." Dani says.

 "I was? Cool." Jan says.

Dani blushes, but quickly recomposes herself.

"I was at the nightclub 'Desire' and I was dancing... everyone wanted to dance with me, but I wouldn't let anyone dance with me. Then there was Brandon who started touching me inappropriately..." she turned to Jan. "And there you were, pulling him off me."

"Hmm..." Jan said while in thought, "Interesting dream. Do you think he went to Desire last night?" Jan asked.

"Yes, I think so too." Dani said with a nod.

Patrick sighed. "Then I guess we'd better go there then."

The body was taken away by the coroner and the rest of his team while Jan walked behind Patrick and Dani who were a bit further away.

"Why didn't the Witchblade activate in your dream?" Patrick wanted to know while they walked to their cars.

"I have no idea. Luckily Jan was there or who knows what could have happened." Dani says, but she knows damn well why the Witchblade didn't work. It was her punishment for wearing such provacative clothes.

"Shall we go with two cars or can we go with yours?" Jan asks Dani then.

"Uhm..." Dani says and stops, which causes Jan to walk against her.

"Sorry." Jan quickly says and sees Dani take a step away from him. 

But that touch of their clothed bodies touching!

An unknown sensation swept through them at that connection.

She can't help herself, she doesn't want Jan in the same car.

Who knows what would happen?

"I think it's best if we meet eachother there." Dani says.

"Alright." Patrick says. "Come on, Jan."

"Right behind you, 'dad'."

What is Dani's problem? It's like I am infected with a disease or something? Jan thought as he followed Patrick to his car... but then turns around and sees Dani standing there, her eyes on him.

"Jan? Come on!" Patrick says behind him.

Jan is the first to snap out of that daze and takes a seat next to Patrick.

Dani turns around and gets into her own car.

"What's with Dani?" Jan asked Patrick as they put their seatbelt on.

"She says that dream turned into a nightmare for her."

"Really? Me saving her from a rapist a nightmare? I think she isn't used to being saved by someone, especially not by the son of Sara Pezzini."

Patrick looks at him. "Right." Yeah, you're partially right. Because of her Witchblade she mostly doesn't need saving. I wonder what that dream meant? Now that Sara is dead, the Witchblade is unresponsive?

"Hello? Earth to Patrick?" Jan asks, waving a hand in front of his face.

"Huh?" he says.

"We're going to lose the contest of getting at nightclub Desire first! And by a girl! Step on it!" Jan says.

"Easy, Jan. You take this job too seriously."

"Well, excuse me, Patrick."

"I liked it better when you called me dad."

"You are not my real dad." Jan says calmly.

He could have shouted that, but he didn't.

"That's right. I was your mother's partner. We've been through a lot together." he said as they started to drive toward the nightclub.
