Pre-Order Series: Chapter 1
Apr. 23rd, 2010 02:01 pmTitle: Pre-Order Series
Rating: NC17
Summary: Ever since a new website has been launched, more celebrities have been disappearing. Where do they go?
Feedback: Total love.
Note: Special thanks to Nafeeza Khan, who came up with this idea when I posted my message on Facebook that I had pre-ordered my V DVD.
At first, I thought it was a hoax. A website called pre-order.com. I admit that I had been browsing through it almost daily.
Every day I was thinking about requesting a certain celebrity for a pre-order, but every day I decided not to do it.
Every day I hovered my mouse over the tab named "pre-order Laura Vandervoort" and then several minutes later, I removed the arrow from the tab.
It made me crazy. I want Laura Vandervoort so much that I even started dreaming about the website and that I did get to pre-order her.
Everything was perfect in that dream, until every morning the alarm clock would go off and I'd have to get ready for work and all the daily routines I did... including staring at that website again.
There wasn't even a section where people could write reviews, so how reliable was this website?!
Tonight I sat behind my laptop again, determined to finally put a stop to these thoughts that have been playing with my mind for so long, those thoughts that had changed my perception of what was reality and what was fantasy.
I clicked through the website to again pre-order the celebrity of my dreams, but this time I didn't hover my computer arrow over the tab to pre-order her.
Of course I had to make an account first. It didn't take long or I had gotten an e-mail in my inbox that I had pre-ordered Laura Vandervoort.
We'll see if this is real or not... I thought as I logged out and put my laptop away to get ready for another night of sleep...
~~~~~~~~
A cellphone rang in the distance as a woman walked down the street. You could hear the click-clack of her high heels with every step that she made.
She took her cellphone out of her purse and checked its caller ID. The blonde woman smiled as she pressed the talk button on her blackberry.
"Hi baby, what's up?" Laura asked her boyfriend.
"Just calling to see what you're up to. I miss you so much, baby. I'm almost done with shooting 'The Lost Future'. Just hang in there, baby, and I will be home soon."
Laura laughed. "I think I will slip in the jacuzzi when I get home..." Laura spoke huskily. "The only one missing would be you, Corey."
"Now there is an image that has fogged up my brain." Corey said with a laugh.
"I can't wait for you to come home, Corey. I love you." Laura said.
"I love you too, babe. And I too can't wait to wrap you in my arms and whisper those words in your ear." Corey replied.
"Goodnight, honey." Laura said and after Corey had said the same, they broke the connection.
Laura had dropped her guard, because the moment she had broken the connection, was the moment arms wrapped around her and a napkin was applied to her mouth. Laura tried to fight the person off, but because of the chloroform that was on the napkin, she fell limp into the stranger's arms.
The stranger contacted headquarters to inform that the Laura Vandervoort pre-order was acquired... while he stepped on Laura Vandervoort's Blackberry... and broke it into tiny little pieces.
The e-mail hadn't said how long it would take. My thoughts were consumed by that website while I was at work. Were they real? Was the website a hoax? I was so distracted I put yellow ink in a blue ink compartment. When I tried to see if the cartridge gave a good imprint on the piece of kitchen paper, I saw a totally different color. I cursed out loud to myself! Luckily I was the only one in the store because the customer had gone to the supermarket to get some groceries so that person couldn't hear my shout.
I hope he won't mind a new original cartridge. I thought as I walked to the rack and took one original cartridge from it. Of course the customer had to pay a lot more for a new original cartridge than for a refilled one.
Good thing I was my own boss, so after I had helped that customer, I closed the store. I just couldn't work with my current state of mind.
"Whataya Want From Me" by Adam Lambert played on the radio as I drove home back to my apartment.
I parked my car a little further than in front of my house, because I saw a van parked there. I got out of my car and into the direction of my house.
A man turned to me and called my name. I had never met this person in my life. How did he know my name?
"Sign here please. It's for your pre-order."
My eyes got wide as flying saucers. Huh? I had pre-ordered it yesterday!!! It cannot be here?! That's impossible!*
I took his document and studied it closely.
Yes, it was the Laura Vandervoort Pre-Order. But how could it be here so soon?!
I did sign it and returned it to the man.
"Now, could you please open the door so we can drop off your order?" he asked me.
"Sure... right away." I said as I got to the door and opened it. Another person and the man I had spoken to unloaded some sort of large box and they carried it inside.
"You can drop it off here." I told them, but they kept on going, straight to my bedroom. I didn't have any stairs in my house, everything was one floor.
"Careful with that, will ya?" the man I had spoken to said to his colleague who apparently was about to drop the box on the floor.
I didn't hear a loud thud.
A second later they came back into the living room.
"Have a nice day now, Mr. van Es."
"Yeah, you guys too. And thanks for delivering it so fast. You are like Superman!" I joked to lighten the mood.
"Just doing our job, mister." And then they disappeared through the door.
I silently closed the door and then made a run to my bedroom.
Yeah right, it's probably just rocks or something else, I thought as I closed the door of my bedroom.
The box lay there on the ground... sealed shut with tape and all. I grabbed a pair of scissors from a drawer and started to cut through the tape.
My heart began to thud in my chest as I lifted the box... and found Laura Vandervoort inside it.
She wasn't moving as I stepped back and almost fell on my bed from my initial shock.
They ACTUALLY did it?
I managed to get up again and leaned over the box and wrapped my arms around Laura to lay her on the bed.
The moment I had laid her on my bed and had taken my hands off her, was the moment that she opened her eyes and blinked at me.
"Ohhh... What happened? Where am I? Who are you?"
To Be Continued...
